Design and Build Quality

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro boasts a sleek design with a soft-touch rear panel that feels great in hand. The camera bump is elegantly integrated, and the Luxe Lavender variant, with its matching aluminum edges, adds a premium touch. However, the back panel tends to show signs of dirt and wear over time. The device comes with a snap-on hard shell case, which adds some bulk but offers protection.

Display

The 6.7-inch pOLED screen is a highlight, offering SuperHD (1200p) resolution and up to a 144Hz refresh rate. The display supports HDR10+ and provides sharp, vibrant visuals, making it excellent for media consumption. The curved edges give the phone a borderless look, reminiscent of older Samsung Galaxy models. Pantone-validated colors ensure accurate and lifelike hues.

Performance

Powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro offers smooth performance for most tasks. It comes with 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. For extra performance, the Ram Boost feature provides virtual RAM from unused storage. The device handles multitasking and gaming well, although it can get slightly warm during extended sessions.

Camera

The Edge 50 Pro is equipped with a versatile camera setup. The 50MP main sensor captures detailed and vibrant photos, performing well even in low light. The 10MP telephoto lens and 13MP ultrawide lens offer good versatility, though the ultrawide can show some distortion at the edges. The 50MP front camera ensures high-quality selfies. However, the camera app can be slow to process images, especially in low light.

Software and Features

Running on Android 14 with Motorola’s Hello UI, the Edge 50 Pro offers a clean and user-friendly interface. Useful features like gesture shortcuts enhance usability. For example, a double chop motion turns on the flashlight, and a double twist launches the camera. The Edge Lights feature uses the curved screen edges to display notifications when the phone is face down.

Battery Life and Charging

The 4500mAh battery provides ample power, lasting up to a day and a half with regular use. The included 125W charger is exceptionally fast, reaching 50% in less than eight minutes and a full charge in about 20 minutes. However, the phone tends to get warm during fast charging.

Verdict

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro impresses with its design, display, and versatile camera system. While it’s not the most powerful device in its class, it offers a well-rounded package with excellent features and fast charging capabilities. Its clean software experience and useful shortcuts make it a pleasure to use daily.
